Open Financial assets, choose an institution, then open the account or product. Its Entry history contains one record per calendar month.

Add an entry

Select New entry and enter:

  • Date
  • Balance
  • Deposits for the period, when tracking is enabled
  • Withdrawals for the period, when tracking is enabled
  • an optional Note

The balance cannot be negative. A new entry in a month that already contains one overwrites that month’s existing entry.

What counts as a deposit or withdrawal

A deposit is external money added to the account. A withdrawal is external money removed. Do not enter investment gains or losses as flows; Hugo derives those from the change in balance after flows.

Example: an account moves from 10,000 to 11,500 after you add 1,000. Enter balance 11,500 and deposit 1,000. Hugo treats the remaining 500 change as investment gain for the period.

Correct missing flows

The Performance page can show Fill in deposits when an investment product has a large balance change but both flows are zero. Open that list, edit the affected entry, and add the actual deposit or withdrawal. Correct flows are essential for Modified Dietz return calculations.
